In May 2024, Rise 4 Life officially began renovation works at the former Saint John Monastery in Khenchara, marking the first step in transforming the historic space into what would become the Vitalis St. John Medical and Social Center.
The project was launched in response to growing healthcare and social support needs within the community, particularly among vulnerable individuals and older adults seeking accessible services close to home. The renovation phase focused on preparing the building to accommodate future medical clinics, preventive care services, community spaces, and a dedicated day-care area for seniors.
This milestone was made possible through the support and blessing of the Basilian Chouerite Order and the administration of Saint John Monastery, which entrusted Rise 4 Life with the use of the premises under a long-term agreement. Their confidence in the project created the foundation needed to transform an existing space into a center dedicated to care, dignity, and community wellbeing.
The renovation effort brought together generous donors, volunteers, and supporters who shared a common vision: creating a welcoming environment where healthcare, social support, and human connection could exist under one roof. Throughout the restoration process, careful attention was given to adapting the building to meet the needs of future beneficiaries while preserving the spirit and heritage of the site.
For Rise 4 Life, the beginning of the renovation represented far more than a construction project. It was the realization of a long-term commitment to build sustainable community services capable of responding to real and evolving needs. Every repaired room, prepared clinic, and renovated space reflected the belief that access to care should be both practical and compassionate.
The works initiated in May 2024 laid the groundwork for the future opening of Vitalis St. John, a center designed to provide medical, preventive, and social services while fostering inclusion, support, and dignity for all those it serves.
As construction progressed, the project became a visible symbol of what can be achieved through partnership, generosity, and a shared commitment to serving the community. The renovation of Vitalis St. John marked the beginning of a journey that continues to strengthen access to care and create lasting impact in Northern Metn.
